PORT AREA

HI!   I JUST HAVE A QUESTION.     THE PORT AREA UNDER MY LEFT RIB CAGE, IT HURTS!    Lord How Long does this area take to feel "normal again"?    I can feel that thing under my skin, its freaky wierd.      Is this area always a bit tender, or will this go away soon?

  1. I think it's different for everyone, I didn't feel mine at all until awhile after surgery when it randomly started getting sore on and off. But all in all, whatever discomfort you may be in - it should all be gone after two weeks or so. After that I couldn't feel anything, no soreness or nothing.

  2. That was the sorest area for my husband as well. I think the doctor said that's the main reason you can't work out super hard for 6 weeks. The port needs that long to heal.

  3. I totally cannot figure out were mine is (I'm a newbie), I have an idea, but I'm not sure what is suppose to feel like, so I'm not sure.

  4. My port is on the right lower part of my abdomen. Sometimes it can hurt if you overexert yourself, and the band can hurt if you overeat. Take a day to rest, make most of your food some liquids or soft foods, eat slowly, and see if it resolves. If it doesn't, then call your doc.

  5. Mine is just under my ribs on my left side. I was certainly quite aware of it for the first month or two then I started having some pains around it and googling lap band port pain led me to the blogs. Turned out it was how I was sitting. My port does not like it if I slouch at all or curl up for too long. I think it must dig in the tissue around it or something.
